About Meet the Wyld Man!

Meet the Wyld Man! is a hilarious, fun-for-all ages feast for the imagination that is unlike anything else in the comedic landscape. With its riveting rhythmic soundtrack, wacky sound effects, captivating slow-motion fights and astounding and magical muddy special effects, many call the show a ‘Live Cartoon’.

For two decades, fans — from Red Hat Society ladies to Brownie packs to Barbarian-clad biker clubs — have flocked to the Arizona Renaissance Festival to share in the fun.

Our Heroes:

The cast of Meet the Wyld Man!, collectively known as The Wyld Men, have long been familiar faces in Renaissance Festival entertainment.  Each member of the group brings with him a wealth of diverse experience entertaining audiences all around the country.

    Jonathan Crocker  is Dr. Cranius Lunch;
eccentric, odd-ball professor and your clueless leader!

    Elliot Cromer is Chestherton Sethstherton, his even odder and nigh unpronounceable side-kick and all-around nut-case!

    Jimi Torrey is Captain Jimi, mad-cap percussionist and chief officer of the soundscape!

   Douglas Mumaw was Seth Sethstherton, originally, and now acts as director for the Wyld Men.

Together Our Intrepid Trio sets out to lead the assembled Adventurers’ Club (yes, that’s you, the audience) in a grand theatrical experiment; an epic, Muddy Adventure into the ancient past, to
‘Meet the Wyld Man!’

The Magic of Theater:

A state-of-the-art sound system adds to the action!  Meet the Wyld Man!  provides a near-cinematic aural experience for their audience.  Captain Jimi is a one-man house band, crisply counterpointing the dialog and heightening the comedic rhythm of the show.  He also plays foley artist, adding a lively smattering of wacky sound effects that would make the Warner Bros. proud.

Everyone loves the ‘Slow Motion Bell’!  At moments of extreme drama, Captain Jimi rings  the bell to shift the speed of the action down several notches, allowing Chesth and Dr. Lunch to showcase their movement skills and facial elasticity, while also giving the audience’s funny bone plenty of time to catch up to its eyes and ears!

The staging, too, is singular!  In the shadow of the ramshackle Guild Hall, our theatrical expedition is set in the jumbled ruins of an ill-fated ancient stone circle.  The massive rocks of the henge have punched through the bedrock and collapsed into the aquifer below, causing a marshy pool to form in their midst. Oh indeed, friends, the threat of muddy oblivion lurks silently in the midst of all the action…

It's a Live Cartoon...and a Muddy Adventure!
